It's worth it to replace door handles if you aren't happy with the way they look, or if they're difficult to use. Installing the new handle on your door is easy if you have patience.

Modern door handles are often equipped with cover plates which hide the screws for a more attractive appearance. If your new handle does not have screws already attached, you will have to attach them separately.

Remove the Old Handle

The door handle is not only a decorative addition to your home, but it's also an important safety feature that lets you to lock and unlock the door. However, as time passes your door handle can lose its grip, become loose, or look old and worn out. This is a sign that it's probably the time to replace your door handle.

If your door handle is becoming difficult to use, it might be time to replace it. This is a problem since it means you can no longer lock or unlock your door which could be the risk of security for you and your family.

It also hooks into a hole in the frame of the door to keep the door closed. If your door wobbles when you close it, replacing the latch could be all that is needed to fix the issue.

The screws that secure the door latch are hard to spot however, you can insert a screwdriver into a small hole on the trim plate and then pry the latch off. After you've removed the trim plate, it'll be easy to remove the latch as well as the remaining bolts that hold the spindle and latch in the position.
