WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of the item by +3. A random extra substat is also increased with each upgrade.
The more modernized gear generally has a more value in trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variation (like Eth titan weapons). Upgrades are less important for the latter due to the requirement to roll the perfect version.
Recycle Points
The
item upgrader mod upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the
item level upgrade will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.
You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader every few weeks, to ensure that your equipment is up to date.
Upgrades will cost more, based on the item level, but they will always be cheaper than buying new equipment. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to
upgrade items weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. They are purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for various currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be used on any weapon or tool with an button, which will show an
item level upgrade's preview when it is upgraded if the player has sufficient materials.
The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item and current item level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades offer a discount on the Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.
A lot of locations offer upgraders for items which include the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and a possibility of obtaining an entirely new recipe. The discount for upgrades increases according to the number of items being upgraded. It can also be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.
In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no item upgrader available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only available via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit and an issue.
In Season 3, the upgrade system was altered a bit, with several new features added. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a specific item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading additional items to that same item level will cost less even when they belong to a different gear set.
The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is reduced too, but it is only available when certain milestones have been reached.
Crests
When upgrading gear in WoW players have a few choices. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an important element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests can only be used to purchase equipment of a particular rank, and each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and simplest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade can require up to 20 crests, contingent on the type of gear that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by completing content of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of any difficulty for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons for endgame gear. The crests can later be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.
The new currency system isn't difficult to use, however it does bring some changes to the process of upgrading. For instance, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to get their equipment up to the highest ilvl possible for all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.
Another significant change is that crests only have one use and it's crucial to make use of them in a responsible manner. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the
Best item upgrader gear that you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly relevant for items like trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
