WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.

Upgraded gear is generally more useful, unless the item upgrades has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like the eth Titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as important for those with higher variance because of the requirement to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item Level Upgrade upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item used for the upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.

The upgrader is located in all major cities and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your gear. It is recommended to visit the upgrader at least once every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.

Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item however they'll always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor. button, which displays an image of the item at its next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item and current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers, for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain degree, it can be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currency types.

In Season 3 the upgrade system has been altered a bit, with several new features added. After an upgrade has been completed to a certain level of item upgrade for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This is even if those items are from a different set of equipment.

The discount is applicable to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is reduced also, but is only available after certain milestones have been reached.

Crests

When upgrading gear in WoW players have a variety of choices. Flightstones are an item that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be used to purchase equipment that is of a particular rank, and each rank has its own requirements for upgrading. Another notable change is that crests have one use and it's crucial to use them properly. For instance, it's a good idea to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the Best item upgrade equipment available, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan to create. This is especially relevant for items like rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The discount on the account will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
