Costs

The cost for this upgrade can be costly and depends on the new ilvl of the item and the number of perks it receives. It can also be expensive to upgrade an item to a higher tier (such as Explorer > Champion, or Veteran > Heroic).

The other is the cost of the materials required to upgrade. These items are typically Power Dices (dropped from monsters 21+), Minerals and Erons or a specific Mists of Pandaria or Warlords Of Draenor Quests. These materials are available in the inventory of an Upgrade Vendor.

Upgrades to an item are a complex process that requires time. It can take up to 8 hours, depending on the magnitude of the upgrade. The base stats of an upgraded item level upgrade are calculated based on its new ilvl as well as other characteristics. This calculation determines new Armor Class bonuses, damage dice, as well as other important statistics. In some instances the upgrade can grant additional perks that can be selected from a list of perks.
