Like other iRobots with premium features (including the most powerful model), they use intelligent mapping to design precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also feature carpet boost, a feature which boosts the Robot vacuum cleaners best's power when it detects an abundance of dirt on the carpet, allowing it clean quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept in removing dog hair. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to get stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a great option, especially if you want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used when you're at work or at school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically empties into its base, and it supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming this feature, which hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This mop and vacuum combination is sleek and has a circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba unit than the boxy models from the competitors. It's one of our most attractive robot vacuums best vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has an intuitive mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in the mornings prior to work or in the evening when you are trying to sleep.

It's also a bit costly, but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however, it will cost you more and produce more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot uses a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its more expensive rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the house based on how dirty those areas are.

If you have a bigger home, it's worth selecting a model with a the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you tell the robot which area of your home must be cleaned using the app or voice command. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair mode is also useful. For families that are busy recharge functions and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to resume where it left off could be extremely useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you would imagine from its price. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad that has a reciprocating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. And it's highly self-sufficient with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through a mapping run which collects information about your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or create a spot-clean. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas for greater efficiency. The app also provides access to a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for hair of pets. And you can set up a spot cleaning that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also comes with an app that's not as intuitive and has a tiny base station that can't double as a bin to empty.
