WoW Upgrades - The
item upgrading Upgrader
Upgrades can give you boost in certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. A random extra substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade.
Upgraded gear generally sees greater value for trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect model.
Recycle Points
The
item upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.
The upgrader is located in every major city, and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear current it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks.
Upgrades will cost more depending on the item level, but they will always be cheaper than buying new gear. For example, upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item from a different player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are functional items that are used to level up weapons and tools, armor and accessories. They are purchased by players through
item upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any weapon, tool, or armor. button, which will display an item's preview at the next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.
The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and the current item level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers, for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. Once an
item upgrades has been upgraded to a certain degree, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.
Item upgraders can be found in a variety of locations, including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and the chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players finish certain achievements or quests.
Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no item upgrader available at the start of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are available only through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit as well as an issue.
In Season 3, several new features were added to the upgrade system. After an upgrade has been completed to a certain item level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This applies regardless of whether the items come from a different set of equipment.
The discount applies to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is reduced also, but is only available after certain milestones are reached.
Crests
Players have a variety of choices when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
The first thing to note is that crests can only be spent on equipment of a particular rank, and every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, depending on the type or gear that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through completing content at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities or taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulty levels to obtain lower-level gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. These crests are then exchanged with an item upgrader (
bbs.theviko.com), such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and pathways.
The new currency system isn't complicated to use, but it does bring some changes to the process of upgrading. When a piece attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This change allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all of their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.
Another important change is that crests only have one use and it's crucial to make use of them in a responsible manner. For instance it's a good idea utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the top equipment available and then save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning on making. This is particularly applicable to items like rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The discount for the entire account will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
