WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you boosts in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of the item by +3. Each upgrade also increases an unspecified substat.

Upgraded gear generally sees more value in trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to enchantments.

You can upgrade items your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.

Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the item, but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item level upgrade (Mozillabd's website), it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to improve the quality of weapons, tools, armor, and other items. They can be purchased from NPCs of item upgraders for a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be applied to any weapon or tool using a button, which will show an item's preview at its next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the item slot, and the current item level. For example weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade items cost 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Crests

This is especially applicable to items like rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The discount for the entire account will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
