It is able to vacuum carpeted rooms quickly and hardwood floors in the kitchen, living room and hallways with only one motion. The motor's 8,000pa power allows it to remove dirt hair, pet hair, and even droppings with ease. Carpet detection automatically increases power when it detects rugs and the dual side brush assists in removing debris from corners.

The mopping performance, while still impressive, isn't as impressive. The mop rotates quickly and utilizes 2.2lbs to scrub dirt and stains. I've noticed that the front arm protrudes out a little more than other robots. This is useful when you're trying to get into difficult corners or on baseboards. The same front arms can be used to clean up larger debris, like broken toys or books.

The S1 Pro is also one of the quietest robot mop and vacuums I've tested. It is quieter and doesn't make as much noise when mopping or vacuuming. It also houses the 2.5-liter dust bin and an 2.5 liter dust bin.

The base has a few control buttons, which allow you to manually start a cleaning task, recall the robot hoover and mop or run the dock's automatic emptying procedure. Press two buttons to toggle the child lock. This is a nice feature for parents worried about their kids messing around with the vacuum.

Similar to other robotic vacuums, the X1 Omni uses its camera to detect furniture and obstacles in its path, and then avoid them. Its True Mapping 2.0 navigation system maps your home 10 times faster than conventional laser detection systems and is four times more accurate at finding objects.

Unfortunately, this means that the X1 Omni could occasionally become so entangled with an obstacle--such as the power cord that is draped across a rug--that it becomes stuck and stops working until you free it. While this was rare but it was a very frustrating experience when it happened, especially since the X1 Omni does not have an "stuck" status alert on its application.

The X1 Omni is unable to automatically switch between mopping and vacuuming mode during a cleaning session. You'll have to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't that bad but the mopping pad isn't washed or dried between uses. This can cause mildew and mold.

On the bright side, the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who came up with its modern and sleek base as well as mopping pad. It's a huge difference from the utilitarian black bases of competitors like Roborock or iRobot. And it's an excellent choice for an industry dominated by boxes.
