WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades can give you boost in certain stats. Each
upgrade items increases the level of an item by 3. A random additional substat is also increased with each upgrade.
The upgraded gear typically has a higher trade value as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or a very high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.
You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks.
Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the
item upgrader mod, however, they are always cheaper than purchasing new gear. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar
item upgrading from another player will costs 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players through NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for different currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be applied to any weapon or tool with a The button will show a preview of an item's next upgrade level, when there are enough materials.
Upgrade costs differ based on the slot for the item and the current
item upgrader kit level. For example, weapons will cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades offer a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.
Item upgraders can be found in many places including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon and the possibility of getting a new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases according to the number of items being upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades must be acquired through various methods that are both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.
In Season 3, several new features have been added to the upgrade system. After a player has upgraded to a certain item level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This is even if those items come from a different set of gear.
The discount is available to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievements.
Crests
Players have a number of options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more special and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be spent on equipment that is of a particular rank, and each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The most basic and straightforward upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complex may require as many as 20 crests based on the type of equipment being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through completing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be by doing outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in all difficulties to get lower-level gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. These crests can then be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.
The use of these currencies isn't that difficult however, the system will introduce a few changes to the overall
upgrade item process. For instance, when an
item Level Upgrade reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is intended to allow players to get their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.
Another notable change is that crests only have one purpose therefore it's essential to use them wisely. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the best gear that you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly relevant for rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to benefit from the account-wide discount if all of the slots are filled with high-quality gear.
