Examine your robot's brush regularly for tangled debris as well as hair. Wash them if needed. Some models will automatically empty their onboard dust bin into a larger bin at the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive counterpart the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic hoovers vacuums that we have test. They are equipped with motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model) they utilize smart mapping to produce precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like cords and furniture leg. They also have carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it spots the presence of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned quickly.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective in cleaning pet hair. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our first option. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to become entangled in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of an area.

Still, it's very good for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a bare-floored home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and can be used when you're at work or going to school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be changed for one that is wet in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features self-emptying dustbins with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, however it isn't as effective as some of its competitors when it comes to deep cleaning robot mop and vacuum.

This highly efficient mop and vacuum combination utilizes advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it will learn the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can change the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones through the well-designed app. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mop. This will help prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm is great for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum that mops vacuum/mop to complete the entire house with 66 percent of its battery left. It did a decent cleaning job on various floors and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was excellent, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically empties into its base, and it supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

The robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that looks more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy units of the competitors. It is one of our most attractive looking robot vacuum reviews vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It comes with advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum to score a perfect 10 in our tests due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with an intuitive mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a problem in the mornings before work or during the night when you're trying to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, but it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient, but it's going to cost you more and produce more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floorplans and identify obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its top competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however this was not completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home depending on the degree of dirt they are.

For larger homes, it's worth opting for one with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one particular area of your house using the app or voice commands. A stairway mode is useful if you own a lot furniture. For busy families, a recharge feature and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to resume where it left off can be very beneficial.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price would suggest. It's a pro at vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using a single pad and a reciprocating motion that cleans better that most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tried. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, set up a spot clean or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to ensure better performance. The app also gives access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean a specific area.
