The SmartThings app lets you manage your fridge from anywhere with notifications sent to your phone whenever it's opened or closed. You can create schedules to set the temperature, and even create reminders.

SmartThings is an early member of the Home Connectivity Alliance, which is trying to make major home appliances from a variety of manufacturers interoperable. In the future you can control your Samsung washer/dryer, Electrolux oven, and LG TV from the same app.
