WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades can give you boost in specific statistics. Each upgrade boosts the
item upgrading level by +3. Each upgrade also increases a random substat.
The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item level upgrade (
Recommended Reading) has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll to get a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The
Best item upgrade upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.
You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks.
The cost of upgrading will be based on the current level of the gear being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are useful items that are used to improve the quality of weapons tools, armor, and other accessories. They are purchased by players through NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for different currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any weapon, tool or armor. The button will display the preview of an item's next upgrade level when there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item and the current level of the item and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades offer a discount on the Flightstones. Once an
Best item upgrader is upgraded to a certain level it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.
Upgraders for items are available at many locations on the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon and the chance to obtain an entirely new recipe. The discount for upgrading increases as more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players finish certain achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an
Best item upgrader upgrader at start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are only accessible through a variety means. This is both a benefit and an issue.
In Season 3, a number of new features were added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a certain item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading further items to the same level will cost less even when they are part of an entirely different set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is cut as well, but is only available when certain milestones are achieved.
Crests
When upgrading gear in WoW players have a couple of options. Flightstones are an
item upgrader mod that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
The first thing to note is that crests are only able to be used to purchase equipment that is of a particular rank, and each rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the more complex one requires as many as 20 crests depending on the type of equipment being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through working through tasks at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities, or by completing dungeons and raids in all difficulty levels to obtain lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. The crests can later be exchanged at an upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.
Using these new currencies isn't too difficult, but the system introduces some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, when an item is at the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is intended to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible on all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.
Another notable modification is that crests have one purpose, so it's important to make use of them in a responsible manner. For instance it's a good idea to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment available, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning to create. This is especially true for items like rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character, that will be able to take advantage of the discount for all accounts when all of the slots are filled with high-quality gear.
