Path of Exile
item upgrader mod Upgrades
Item upgrades are a common and essential way to boost the performance of a variety of items in Path of Exile. They can provide extra damage, AD or even affixes.
Rare-grade equipment is often superior to modernized Common or Magic gear because of their high requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades are a kind of upgrade that can be used on armor and weapon items. They improve the stats of the
item upgrader that they are attached to. Armor upgrades are found in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. Alternatively, they can also be salvaged from items with upgrade components inside them, using a specialist or more powerful salvage kit.
The amount of damage that an armored piece or weapon will absorb is contingent on the level of its upgrades. Upgrading a piece of armor to the highest upgrade level will boost its ability to absorb damage. It is important to keep in mind that this will increase the weight of the armor, therefore it must be heavier.
There are several types of armor upgrades available in the game, and they all have different effects. For instance, certain upgrades will give the armor a certain number of additional health points, while others will make it stronger and lighter. The kind of armor upgrade an item can get will be indicated by the name of the upgrade, as indicated in the table below.
A few upgrades also feature magical or a combination of magic and technology, which is indicated by the "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Additionally, some upgrades require a fee to use, and are indicated by an "Charges" entry in the table below. The charges associated with these upgrades change daily or never expire dependent on the upgrade.
Iron Ore is the cheapest option to improve your armor. You can find it by exploring and looting small chests. Titanium is more expensive, but is readily available at the smelters of Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be used on armor pieces that are of high-level. These upgrades can provide significant boost in stats, and are worth the investment.
A piece of armor upgraded to the highest upgrade level will greatly increase its defense values but the wearer must be aware that increasing its weight will drastically reduce its agility and speed. Therefore, it is generally not recommended to upgrade most armor pieces beyond +9, since the added defense is typically not worth the additional weight and power costs of the upgrades needed.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades allow players the ability to improve certain aspects of their weapon. Upgrades can boost the accuracy of a rifle, or the damage that shotgun shells do. Some weapons have special enhancements to enhance their intrinsic characteristics. Frictionless materials (improves stability, minimizes the risk of overheating) and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's speed to cause more damage) are two examples.
The majority of upgrades for weapons require the use of a whetblade, or one of the three Power Dices and a different amount of Minerals and Erons. These can be gained by completing Side Quests or by killing a certain number of monsters and bosses.
The process of upgrading a weapon, equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade cost of a set number of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the higher the number of bars required to complete it. The cost of upgrading will be less if you have more than one of the relevant upgrade materials.
In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade your weapon and sets has changed a bit. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5, you could upgrade your weapon and equipment by paying a specific number of Bars. You could do this until your weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level, at which point the upgrades would reset.
It's still possible, but it depends heavily on RNG. You should consider buying equipment that has low upgrade levels, but high base scores and stat distributions. These items have a better chance of granting you the highest level of advantages and benefits.
To improve their skills faster, many players prioritise upgrading their weapons. In addition to these, players should consider upgrading the weapons favored by their teammates to increase their power and effective. Shepard for instance should upgrade his M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will increase the effectiveness of the weapon when used in conjunction with biotic specialists such as Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels can be used to boost the effectiveness of a skill or provide additional effects on weapons and armor. Jewelry crafting is the process of creating them. You combine the gemstone with specific reagents on a jewelry table. The higher the tier of the gemstone is, the greater its secondary effect. These reagents can be gotten from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses around the world, or through finding Legendary Gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Prisms.
The Jeweler can improve the quality of a gem in stages ranging from Crude up to Royal. The boosts to stats will differ according to the tier that the jewel is at when it's slotted into jewelry, weapons, or other gear.
The Jeweler can craft the highest levels of gems except for the rare and legendary ones which you must be at certain levels to gain. Jewels can be substituted with another jewel without destroying the original. You are able to replace the jewel once in an
item upgrader mod of equipment.
The use of more jewels in a movement will make it feel smoother, and is often performed for aesthetic reasons. Apart from improving performance, the jewels also create an outer layer that is more durable than metal, which means that repeated friction from pivots doesn't cause harm as easily.
In addition to the above-mentioned upgrades, the player can also acquire glyphs for their shields and weapons from a Glyphmaster. These are a small perk and can be swapped freely but aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs are upgradeable, like jewelry, at the Jeweler for gold and Scattered Crystal. Glyphs are also removed, which returns them to the inventory. Other upgrade components like aegis or traits cannot be exchanged and can only be found with an Upgrade extractor or salvaging using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or Ascended Salvage tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets are items of equipment that provide many small, but beneficial advantages to your hero. You can find them in the starting area as loot or personal story rewards. They are also available from vendors and by the completion of road interactions. They can also be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.
The first trinket a player will unlock is the cloak. It grants a small but beneficial boost in speed of movement and the ability to evade. Then, they can get amulets, rings, and necklaces in a similar manner to the way a player acquires armor and weapons. Each piece of equipment comes with a slot for an upgrade that is either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades offer smaller bonuses and can be put into any kind of equipment however, jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded, and is only compatible with certain types of trinkets.
These trinkets provide additional buffs and abilities that are active when the hero isn't fighting. This allows a hero to be more efficient when they are not active. It also helps compensate for the absence of excellent team or talent tree slots that are normally filled by the hero's optimal stats.
A good guideline for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you won't be replacing soon, followed by any items with desirable stats that are less important than the iLevel of the
item level upgrade to be upgraded. This is particularly true if an item has multiple stats you wish to upgrade, as it's usually more beneficial to upgrade one important stat rather than two sub-optimal ones.
Jungle players usually
upgrade item their yellow trinkets to a red one prior to the beginning of the game. Mid and top players however they will select either a pink or green ward, based on the matchup. These choices can affect a hero's ability to control the map.
In addition to the items listed above, players will also find other trinkets that form of trophies and rewards throughout the game. They can be earned by completing certain milestones in the story, such as the main quest of a chapter or killing a particular boss. You can check them out by selecting the achievement in the reward section of the hero's menu.
