World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades provide players with the ability to
upgrade items equipment that they already own. This can be done by any
item upgrader NPC.
Generally, upgrades boost an item's main stat and can give it extras depending on the item type. Examples include Whistan's shield for FB sorcs or Goldwrap for casting builds.
Armour
Armour is among the key things that keeps Link protected from injury in all situations. Although it cannot be upgraded like weapons, you can enhance its defense capabilities in different ways.
Armour is designed to safeguard people or animals from injury or harm, whether it's from a direct physical attack or a variety of hazards posed by the environment or activities. In the past, armour was typically made of leather or fabric however later, metal protections were used as well, especially in military applications like heavy cavalry and combat drones.
As with weapons there are a variety of ways in which armor can be upgraded but the majority of them require visiting one of the four Great Fairy Fountains located throughout Hyrule. Each fountain offers a different degree of improvement and higher levels of protection requiring more rupees and materials.
First, Armor Upgrades are permanent upgrades. Once they've been put in place, they can't be removed unless you own another piece of equipment with the same upgrade. You should only apply the most powerful upgrades to your equipment, and ensure that you have the equipment needed to complete the process.
For those who want to acquire the necessary upgrade components, you'll find them in various locations around Hyrule including shrines, merchants, and even enemies. They'll usually be identified with an gold circle or blue triangle symbol, and are available in large quantities as you advance through the game. While they may appear randomly, there's an opportunity that obtaining certain upgrade components will trigger a quest that will reward you with more.
It is also important to note that although the level of protection provided by each upgrade varies, it is the same across all upgrades and will always be better than nothing. This is because a full set of upgraded armour will provide you with a substantial defense boost that will protect you from all kinds of attacks except magic, making it a powerful tool for any class.
Weapons
You can upgrade your guns by using special upgrades that make them unique. These upgrades can increase damage or alter the stats of the weapon in accordance with your build. They also allow new attachments like unique enchantments and different types of ammo, and aesthetic options.
To upgrade a weapon you'll need to have an upgrade component in place and the item itself. The weapon must be at or above a certain point for the upgrade to take effect and most weapons can only accept one upgrade at a time.
You can find weapons upgrade components scattered across the globe and even from enemies and can be purchased from vendors. The upgrade components themselves are a mix of components that can be put into armor, weapons trinkets and gathering tools to provide an attribute bonus or additional effect when they are in use. They require equipment to be of a certain level to be able to take the upgrade. They can be upgraded in the same way as other items.
Upgrades are a combination of Smithing Stones (a type of stone) and Runes. They are used to improve the stats of weapons and enhance their scaling with other stats. These upgrades are available from enemies in the open world or from merchants. They can also be obtained through combat.
Two NPCs can enhance your weapon: Blacksmith Hewg, located in the Roundtable Hold hub zone and the Smithing Master Iji, in the Road to Manor hub zone. Both of these NPCs accept your Smithing Stones or Runes to upgrade your weapon.
Prioritize upgrading your best-in slot items first. Then, upgrade the items that you won't replace soon. If you're playing an asymmetrical build, for example upgrade your weapon first, then your shoulders and chest, then your feet and hands. The same principle goes for Magic and Utility Items, with the caveat that some products may be superior to others based on the style of play you prefer. Similar is the case for Armour, with some reforges having superior performance over others.
Magic Items
A character is able to upgrade only one magic item at a time. If an upgrade project is canceled, no further upgrades will be offered for the item. Magic items that are upgraded will cost twice the gold they would normally cost to make or purchase, but they can also have extra advantages.
A magical item is any item that has special properties or effects. Most of these items are weapons, however some are also shields, armor and cloaks, potions, rings, scrolls, and other items. Certain of these items can be converted into a sentient.
Many magic items can be enhanced in their abilities. This makes them more useful to a player or help them to overcome a difficult situation. A weapon that is infused with some special substance could, for instance, provide extra damage against a certain kind of enemy. This is especially useful for those who have reached a level where they are likely to face a single kind of monster over and over again in Dungeons.
An infused ring might confer protection against piercing, bludgeoning, or slashing damage from non-magical attacks (not even silvered ones) until the next time the character takes a lengthy rest. This is particularly useful for combatants who are melee or anyone looking to avoid purchasing a shield.
Some enchanted objects have special powers which allow the character to cast spells that aren't on their class list. This is useful for characters who have trouble filling their spell slots due to multiclassing. These items with enchanted abilities generally require an Intelligence (Arcana) check to use them, and the spell's effectiveness is determined by rolling on a table that is based on the number Intelligence points expended.
Other items that are enchanted can allow the player to change their appearance, or create a new appearance. These are particularly beneficial for those who have to leave their homes, or who are in a location where they may not be accepted. An enchanted item might provide them with an invisibility effect, or even make them invisible to anyone but a select few.
Utility Items
Utility items are those that don't fall into the categories of clothing, armor or Weapons and offer a range of different capabilities. Unlike Armor and Weapons they are not a single utility item that is able to be in conflict with another. Most utility items provide a passive effect that the player can activate by using them but some also have additional capabilities that are triggered when the user presses the button or activates an ability.
The most popular type of utilitarian
Item Upgrade is the Flashlight that illuminates the surrounding area. Other useful items include the Helicopter Cap and Rocket Boots which allow the player to float in mid-air while moving, and the Jetpack which allows the player to accelerate in any directions while on the ground. In the Engineering section, you can instantly produce several utility items, while others are unlocked by Research projects or Experimental projects on the Proving Ground.
In addition to the items available in the regular inventory, players can also unlock the most useful items of utility by purchasing them from the Atomic Shop and also from seasonal Scoreboard rewards (such as the Shadow Goggles). Some of these items can be upgraded for more efficient use.
The majority of utility items give players an advantage in navigation or enhance a specific combat ability. Sharpening stones, crafted by a Weaponsmith, increase Power and Ferocity while Maintenance Oils, crafted by the Huntsman will increase concentration and healing power. Other utility items like Writs and Theses crafted by the Scribe can be used to give players either a boost in Damage or Condition Damage.
All XCOM soldiers are capable of equipping one utilitarian item at the start of the campaign. Eventually, an additional slot is made available through the use of certain types armor or completing engineering research or experiments in the Proving Ground. In the Alien Hunters DLC, additional slots are created by equipping the Grenade Launcher which lets the player equip an Smoke Grenade or Bomb in an additional grenade slot, while an offensive grenade is equipped in the main grenade slot.
