WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. A random substat is also increased with every upgrade.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect model.

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher item upgrade level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. The cost of upgrades will be based on the current item level of the gear being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Upgrades are functional items which can be used to improve the quality of weapons and tools, armor and other accessories. They can be bought by players from item upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor using an button, which will show an image of the item when it is upgraded when the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the item Upgrade slot, and the current item level. For example, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. After an item upgrader mod has been upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

The discount for the entire account is only applicable when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
