What to Look For in a Double Travel Buggy

Size

In general, double pushchairs are wider than single models - particularly when they're side-by-side buggies, like the Kolcraft Geo 3 and UPPAbaby Vista 2. The good news is that this extra width allows them to accommodate heavier children without straining the chassis. Other features that make them stand out: large pop-out canopies that have SPF 50 protection, as well as peekaboo windows and swivel-lock front wheels that help navigate tight spaces like shopping aisles as well as a cup holder that can be used by one parent, and a clever fold mechanism that can be operated by one hand. The 10-inch wheels aren't built for rough terrain, but they can handle city streets and theme park rides well.

In terms of price tags these kinds of lightweight, side-by-side buggies are surprisingly affordable.

Weight

The heavier the cheap double buggy buggy the more easy it is to lift and maneuver. The Joie Evalite Duo is a great option if you need to be mindful of weight, as it's the lightest in our Lab tests, but it still has plenty of features, including large pop-out canopies with SPF 50 and peekaboo windows and a quick-release fold that folds flat in just a few seconds; four-wheel suspension to take on rough terrain and an adjustable front wheel that makes maneuvering tight aisles of supermarkets and shops easy. Just over PS1,000 It's also a great value stroller. It can also carry twins or a baby and toddler with the purchase of an additional'sidepack'.

Flexibility

A double buggy is a fantastic option for parents with twins or even a baby and toddler. Buggies with narrow tandems are ideal for navigating narrow spaces, while side by side models ensure that your children are properly cared for and help you to keep an eye on them as you navigate the supermarket or the park. Many also have a wide variety of seat configurations, so you can adapt to your child's needs as they grow, and some even have the option to add an extra ride-on board or car seat.

The Joie Evalite Duo is a great example. It can be used to support two seats or a car-seat. The adaptors allow you to change from a single seat to a double seat in a matter of seconds. The basket is generous and includes all the accessories, such as raincovers and liners.

Tandem buggies usually have your children seated together, which can make them easier to push and more stable on uneven surfaces but they can be difficult to maneuver up and down kerbs. They typically have a larger footprint than a single-seater pushchair and may be a bit too long to pass through doors.

Comfort

One of the more comfortable and lightweight doubles we've tried, this buggy features elevated stadium-style seating for both seats, so your kids can are able to enjoy the view. It comes with large UPF 50+ canopy with windows that peek out; a padded toddler seat and add-on RumbleSeat, which has an adjustable leg and foot rests; and an individual cup holder for parents. Testers love the way the seats recline independently by pressing a lever under each seat. They also note that the straps are easy to secure and remove with just one hand. It's also simple to fold, with a twist mechanism on the handle that makes it as easy as could be, and stores with the backrest upright to make it easy to access.
