WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give you boost in certain stats. Each upgrade increases item level by +3. A random substat is also added to every
upgrade items.
Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like the eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will remain in use for a long time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to enchantments.
You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every several weeks.
Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the item but they will always be cheaper than buying new equipment. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items which can be used to level up weapons and tools, armor and other accessories. Players can purchase them from
item Level upgrade upgraders NPCs for a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor. The button will show a preview of an item's next level of upgrade, when there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot of the item and the current
item upgrade level. For example weapons cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.
Upgraders for items can be found in a variety of locations on the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and a possibility of getting a new recipe. The discount for upgrades increases with the number of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by requiring players to complete specific achievements or quests.
In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no
item level upgrade upgrader available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades are acquired via a variety of means that are both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.
In Season 3, a number of new features were added to the upgrade system. After the player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This applies regardless of whether the items come from a different set of equipment.
The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievements.
Crests
When upgrading equipment in WoW players have a variety of choices. Flightstones are an item that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.
The first thing to note is that crests are only able to be used on gear of a specific rank, and that each rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and easiest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade requires up to 20 crests, contingent on the type of equipment being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through finishing content at the appropriate level, whether that means walking around and doing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of all difficulty for items of higher tier or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for gear that is used in the endgame. These crests are then exchanged with an item upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and paths.
Utilizing these new currencies isn't that difficult, but the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, once an item is at the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest possible level for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also crucial to choose crests in a wise manner, as they only have one use. It is best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the best gear that you can find and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly applicable to items like trinkets and rings that take up multiple slots. The discount on the account will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
