World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
The upgrade of an item can be used to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it can raise an item's Mark level or Rarity, and also boost other stats.
Each item comes with a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specified amount.
Item Level
When an item is upgraded, its base stats improve in value. The value is the sum of all its leveled up advantages (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrades to items can be costly dependent on the upgrader and the type of upgrade you choose to make. This is because of how many perks need to be replaced to allow the item to be upgraded.
It is also used to enforce gating requirements when waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It is also used as a gating requirement while waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios, and to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear (since PvP is limited to an lower level). The average item upgrader mod (
click4r.com) level can be found in the character sheet.
Using the item level can help players evaluate the power of equipment when they decide to buy or sell. It's a useful indicator of the quality of an item and the amount of damage it will be capable of causing. The level of an item can be used to evaluate items when looking at the inventory of a seller.
On PC, you are able to check the level of the item using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the full description of the item, including its value. It can also be found by hovering an
item upgrader kit with the mouse cursor and typing /itemlevel in chat.
There are a few theories on how the calculation of an item's level is made. One theory is that the item level is a number that comes from a formula which calculates how much an item's stats are worth. It considers the fact that different perks have different worth and that sockets have gems that increase the value of the item overall. This could result in a calculated item's ilvl that is usually very close to Blizzards actual item level.
It's not the only factor that influences the level of an item. The level of the area where the item was dropped can alter its stats. For instance it can increase the item's haste or crit rating. Items that drop in higher-level instances will have a higher ilvl.
Item Stats
Stats on an item are a significant component of what makes or breaks an item for players. The game utilizes them in various ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to one weapon and to encourage them to try out other weapons. The stat mods of weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by the player's level.
Upgrades to an item can increase its stats. The rarity of an item determines its upgrade cost. For example, a grey or white item will only be upgraded once, while items with rare tiers will be upgraded several times at higher prices.
Another method of altering the stats on an item is by affixing it. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and are available in all shapes and sizes. The affixes can be used to give items additional damage or other special capabilities (such as the ability to revive dead or reduce cooling downs) or to make them unique by adding a name.
All affixes are re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the
upgrade items window pressing the green button. This will cost a certain amount in gold and items. These can be used as upgrade gauges, as with other rerolling methods.
Players can choose to upgrade an item with specific stats, or reroll the affixes. The stat ranges are determined by the item's level. However, all items will include at least one stat in that range unless they are an exclusive item or a God Roll from a boss in a raid.
Another thing that can be modified by adding the option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes, or selecting which stats to increase. However, as with the base equipment, this would need to be performed on a per-item basis and the item compare interface would not display all the possible stats either lost or gained at the same time.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player increases the probability of obtaining items as well as the properties spawned by loot and the intensity of these properties. It doesn't, however directly affect damage or the ability to
upgrade items. It provides players with the chance to upgrade their equipment earlier in the game. This is especially advantageous in early game runs since players tend to prioritize weapon scaling and defenses above raw damage gains.
In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chance of success when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to confuse with the Blacksmith’s overall chance of upgrading that increase with each level of the item. It is also possible to be increased with the use of anti-materials like a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
Armor, shields and weapons can spawn or be crafted with the Luck property, which has the default value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to grant a further +40 Luck, or to increase the existing Luck of the item up to 140.
Certain items, such as the Hollow-infused weapon can also be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any skill that causes damage by five percent. These items are available from the shop, or they can be crafted using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Not all upgrades are successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the success rate of an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their items if it fails.
The rate of success of an upgrade can be seen in the Honing UI. The percentage is the chances of successfully upgrading that item and it can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limits to the extent to which success rates can be increased and the probability of an upgrade failing can't exceed 100%..
The success of an item upgrade is also affected by the Luck of that item. Every item has an average success rate of 25%, and every item with Luck increases the chance of success by an additional 5%.
The upgrade overlays of the item are displayed above items in the inventory. This can obscure enchantment effects and other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
