WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades can give you an increase in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases item level by +3. Each upgrade also increases an unspecified substat.
The upgraded gear typically has a higher trade value as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or very high stat variation (like the eth titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect model.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item used to upgrade will be consumed forever and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.
You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every few weeks, to keep your equipment up-to-date.
The cost of upgrades will be based on the current item level of the item being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar
item upgrader mod will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for different currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be used on any weapon or tool using a button, which will display an item's preview when it is upgraded in the event that the player has enough materials.
Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot for the item and the current
item upgrading level. For instance weapons cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. Once an
item upgrade has been upgraded to a certain degree it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.
Upgraders for items are available at many locations, including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon and the possibility of obtaining an entirely new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an
item upgrader kit upgrader at the start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only available through a variety of methods. This is both a positive and a disadvantage.
In Season 3 the upgrade system was tweaked a bit, with numerous new features added. After the player has upgraded to a certain item level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This is true even if the items come from a different set of gear.
The discount is available to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievements.
Crests
Players have several options when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more special, and are used during specific
item level upgrade level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.
The first thing to be aware of is that crests can only be spent on equipment of a particular rank, and each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and simplest upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complicated may require as many as 20 crests, based on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by completing content of the appropriate level, whether that means walking around and doing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons of all difficulties for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for endgame gear. These crests can be exchanged with an upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and routes.
The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, but it brings some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, when an item reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
Another significant modification is that crests have one usage and it's crucial to use them wisely. For instance, it's best to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the top equipment available, and then save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning on making. This is particularly true for items such as rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The discount for the entire account will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
