Methods

The participation rates in certain trials may be lower than anticipated due to the health-promoting effect, financial incentives, or competition from other research studies. The necessity to recruit people quickly limits the sample size and the impact of many practical trials. The authors of the Pragmatic Free Trial Meta identified 48 RCTs that self-labeled themselves as pragmatic and that were published until 2022.
