It's smaller than other models on this list making it easier to maneuver in tight corners and under furniture. It uses a 220 degree lidar that combined with its 3D Matrix camera system gives it some of the best navigation and object avoidance I've ever seen in a robot mop vacuum. It comes with a massive 4600mAh battery that lasts for up to 170-minutes when mopping and suction are set to standard mode (it can last longer in turbo). It can even return to its dock to recharge its battery during the cleaning.

It's fast and does an excellent job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It is able to vacuum carpeted rooms quickly and hardwood floors in the kitchen, living room and hallways with only one sweep. Its 8,000pa suction motor makes short work of picking up sand, dirt and pet hair. Carpet detection automatically boosts power when it detects carpets, and the dual side brush helps to remove debris from corners.

The mopping performance is less impressive, but not by a lot. The mop's rotating mechanism spins fast and makes use of 2.2lbs to remove dirt and stain. I've noticed that the front arms protrude out a bit more than other robots, which is helpful to maneuver around tight corners and on baseboards. The front arms can also be used to scoop up larger objects like broken toys and books.

Another good thing is that the S1 Pro is one of the quietest robot vacuum cleaner vacuums and mop I've ever used. It's simple to set up and is effective however, this is something you'll need to keep an eye on in case you're purchasing this vacuum for the sole purpose of mopping.

It's a bit old-fashioned to have separate modules for vacuuming and mopping, but it does mean that you don't need to worry about changing the bags for disposables or refilling the tank of water.

Our test participants discovered that the Matrix Plus did a great job of vacuuming and mopping. Its greatest feature was its accurate map of your floorplan which it uses to determine a route when cleaning. The Matrix Plus was able to navigate effortlessly around furniture, rugs and other obstacles. The app also offers the option of setting 'No-Go zones' and virtual barriers, which can help to shield specific areas of your home from being swept with a mop.

We also found that the Matrix Plus did surprisingly well in picking up pet hair. It was able to collect an enormous amount of hair that shed by our cats and even found its way into the nooks and crannies of our stairs which other robots struggled. It was fairly silent and also had a few lovely jingles to signalled when it was beginning or finished its work.

The app was too basic and you had to alter the modules each time you changed between vacuuming and mopping. The app doesn't have the capacity to store multiple maps, which can be a pain if you have a home with multiple floors. The Matrix Plus robot is a great choice for those who want a device that can mop and vacuum.

The Yiko X1 Omni

The X1 Omni is the most expensive robot vacuum that mops in our review, but it comes with some distinct features that make it worth taking into consideration. The X1 Omni's most appealing feature is its enormous dock which doubles as the robot's charging base as well as housing for two water tanks, a sink for cleaning, and a 2.5-liter dust bin that automatically eliminates.

The base also has a number of control buttons that allow you to start cleaning and then recall the robot or use the dock's automatic emptying process. Hold down two buttons to turn off a child lock that is a great option for parents concerned about kids tinkering with the vacuum.

The X1 Omni like other robotic vacuums, uses its camera to spot obstacles and furniture that are in its path. It will avoid them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.

This can cause the X1 to get stuck if it gets caught in an obstacle like a power cable draped over a rug. It will not work until you remove it manually. This was a rare occurrence however it was frustrating since the X1 does not have an "stuck status" alert in its app.

The X1 Omni cannot automatically switch from mopping mode to vacuuming mode during cleaning. You will have to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't that bad but the mopping pad isn't cleaned or dried between use. This could lead to mildew and mold.

On the positive side, the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot, thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who dreamed up its modern, sleek base and mopping pad apparatus. It's a significant contrast to the basic black bases of rivals like Roborock or iRobot. And it's a welcome sight for a market dominated by clunky boxes.
