The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and it leaves your floors spotless. Its low cost and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are great features.

Be sure to inspect your robot's brushes for tangled hair and large particles and clean them as required. Some models will also empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in an additional bin at the bottom. This reduces the amount fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have tested. They are equipped with motors that are top of the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other premium iRobot models (including the top choice) they utilize smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans and avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also have the feature of Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors They are also adept at cleaning dog hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's also prone to get stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a great option for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and you can use it while you're at work or going to school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on for long and don't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle however. If you need to, the mopping pad can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a compact, sleek package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and effective at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also has a powerful suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best automatic vacuum cleaner robot hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performing combination vacuum mop cleaner robot and mop utilizes advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste and it learns your home's layout over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and customize zones with the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to remove and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross-contamination. The flex arm can be utilized to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire home, and it did so with 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a good job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms with various flooring types, such as certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was great, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically empties into its base, and supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums it, something we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competitors' boxy units, this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most appealing looking in our evaluations. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot vacuums that mop we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has an intuitive mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This can be a concern in the mornings prior to work or in the evening when you are trying to sleep.

It's also quite expensive however, not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however, it's more expensive and make more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features that will let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner like Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically empty the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, as well as washes and dry mop pads.

The smart robot uses an array of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and identify obstacles, making it more efficient than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this was not foolproof in our testing and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also has an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house based on how dirty the areas tend to be.

For larger houses it's recommended to choose a model that has zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one specific area of your home by using the app or via voice commands. A stair mode can be useful if you have a lot furniture. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off can be very beneficial.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you'd imagine from its price. It is a good vacuum cleaner, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad, which uses an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to organize a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas to improve performance. The app comes with a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has strong 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit noisier than the other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
