However, they have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to become stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a good deal for those whose home or office has lots of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. Plus, it's very quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or going to school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for long and don't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you need to, the mopping pad can be replaced with a wet one in minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a sleek, compact package. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. 3. IRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba rather than the boxes, this mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive looking models in our tests. The latest model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It features advanced features such as enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's also the only robotic vacuum or mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a combination high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and boasts an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models like the X40 is easy to use, offering an intuitive mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's a noisy unit, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning before work, or at night when you try to fall asleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are similarly capable and more attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable however, it's more expensive and create more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features that let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device, similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and cleans and dry mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of the combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its more expensive competitors.
