Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our bare floor tests, and they're particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first option. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to get stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a good deal for those whose home or office has lots of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also extremely quiet and operates while you are at work or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. If you want to, you can swap the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features a self-emptying dustbin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover; go to these guys, for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This top-performing combination autonomous vacuum and mop makes use of advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste, and it will learn your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming this feature, which we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxy units This robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most appealing looking in our reviews. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and boasts an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has an easy mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in mornings prior to work or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and look better. If you're willing to live some more volume and some extra cost this is a efficient two-in-one device that should please almost everyone.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. Like Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes care of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and spot obstacles, making it more efficient than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection however this was not completely foolproof in our tests, and could be confused with obstructions or power cords.

Its vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the house based on how dirty these areas are.

If you have a larger home, it is worth selecting a model with a zones or spot cleaning modes. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your house needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice control. A stair mode can be useful if you have a large furniture.
