The robots also have a feature called Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our tests on floors that are bare, and they're particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a good deal, especially if your office or home has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and operates while you are at work or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have an auto-emptying dock, however. If you're in need of it, the mopping pad can be replaced with a wet one in minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient in taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also has an impressive suction system and an automatic vacuum cleaner and mop bin for emptying. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, but it falls behind some competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

This high-performing combination vacuum and mop utilizes advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste, and it learns the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can alter the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones with the well-designed app. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a carpeted area to prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is great for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could sweep the entire house with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a decent cleaning job on various floors and rooms with different flooring types including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was superb, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically empties into its base, and supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen on other robot vacuum/mop combination.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

This robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the bulky models from the competition. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that scored 100% in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has a simple mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device that could be a problem if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you try to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. If you're willing with a little more noise and some extra cost it's a powerful two-in-one that will please almost everyone.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features that will let you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes care of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot vacuum with mop makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, though this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to accomplish the task. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate the mapping process that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to set up a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to rank your most filthy areas to improve performance. The app has a range of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can reach corners and under furniture more easily. It features an impressive 8000 Pascal suction as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also set up a spot cleaning that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute little eyes. It's good at vacuuming but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also has an app that's not as intuitive and has a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
