The best robot vacuum and mop robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention. It leaves your floors spotless. Its price is surprisingly low and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They have top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. As with other premium iRobot models (including the top-rated model), they use smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans that avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also have a feature called Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our bare floor tests They're also particularly adept in removing pet hair. They do have some flaws however, which prevent them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to get caught up in shoes and socks and can't navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and can work when you're at work or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't hold on very well and can't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 has an auto-emptying dock, however. If you're required to mop, the mopping pad can be changed for one that is wet in just a few minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and effective at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features strong suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robot automatic hoover for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This highly efficient mop and vacuum combination uses advanced sensor technology to avoid obstacles and pet waste and it also learns your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to similar models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross contamination. Its flex arm is also ideal for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot automatic vacuum and mop robot/mop that could complete the entire house with 66 percent of its battery left. It did a decent cleaning job on different floors and rooms with different flooring types, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds, and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming this feature, which we've not seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competition's compact models this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. The latest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with an easy mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in the mornings prior to work or in the evening when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive however, not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to live with a bit more noise and some additional cost it's a efficient two-in-one device that should delight most.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It comes with a variety of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floorplans and identify obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however, it wasn't reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home depending on the degree of dirt they tend to be.

For larger homes it's recommended to choose one with zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one specific area of your home via the app or via voice commands. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. Finally the recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum continue where it left off is great for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It is a good vacuum cleaner and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, set up the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritise your dirtiest rooms for better performance. The app also grants access to many features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has strong 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. It also has the ability to set up a spot clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, however it is more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums that we've tested. It also comes with an app that is less intuitive and a small base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
