1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've tested. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model), they use intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans that avoid obstacles such as cords and furniture leg. The robots also come with a feature called Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors They're also particularly adept in removing pet hair. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.
It's still a good value particularly if your home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save money. It's also very quiet and works while you are at work or in school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be replaced with one that is wet in just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean and effective in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also features a self-emptying bin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient
robot vacuum cleaners best hoover for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performing mop and vacuum combination uses advanced sensor technology to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it also learns the layout of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to similar models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to take off and extend its mops. This will help prevent cross contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient
robot vacuum that mops vacuum/mop which could clean an entire home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a good job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms with various flooring types, such as some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was superb and it stayed clear of fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robot vacuum/mop combination.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
This
robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba unit than the boxy models of the competition. It's one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).
It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that has 100% in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely self-refill and empty its base station, and it boasts the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with an easy mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a problem in the mornings before work, or at night when you are trying to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive, although it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally capable and more attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful, but it will cost you more and make more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.
The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its competitors with premium features. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however, it wasn't reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also has a feature called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the home based on how dirty the areas are.
If you have a larger home, it's worth selecting a model with a spot or zone cleaning mode. This lets you tell the robot which area of your home needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. A stair mode can be useful if you have a large furniture. For families that are busy, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off could be extremely useful.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It is a good vacuum cleaner and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using one pad and a reciprocating motion that is more efficient than most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tried. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying base that is washable.
The iRobot app is designed to guide you through the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to organize a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas to improve performance. The app offers a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and underneath furniture better. It also has strong 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. You can also organize a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean an area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it is more likely to be caught in low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we've test. It also has an app that's not as intuitive, and a smaller base station that does not double as a bin for emptying.
