The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention. It will leave your floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detector) are both positives.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They have motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model) they employ smart mapping to create detailed floorplans and avoid household obstacles like furniture legs. The robots also come with a feature called Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our tests on floors that are bare They're also particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to become entangled in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a good value particularly if your home or office has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save money. Plus, it's very quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or at school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with an auto-emptying dock, however. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its smart cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with an impressive suction system and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the most efficient robotic hoovers hoover for carpets but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors that help it keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and ensure better cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and set up zones through the well-designed app. It has a battery lifespan that is similar to other models.

It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a carpeted area which prevents cross-contamination. The flex arm is perfect for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete an entire house, finishing with the battery at 66 percent left. It did a good cleaning job on various flooring and rooms with different flooring types including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was superb and it stayed clear of fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba rather than the compact models this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most appealing looking in our reviews. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also among its most advanced. It features advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company’s robot vacuums uk that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a combination high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot vacuums with mop we tested that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and it boasts its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with an intuitive mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's loud that could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you try to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's extremely powerful however it's going to cost you more and make more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to draw out the floor plan and detect obstacles, navigating more intelligently than some of its premium competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection but this was not reliable in our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the home based on how dirty those areas tend to be.

For larger houses it's worth looking for models with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one particular area of your home using the app or voice controls. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. For families with busy schedules recharge functions and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be very beneficial.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you might think from its price. It does a stellar job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with only one pad and a rotating motion that cleans better that most mop cleaners for robots that we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, set up an area for cleaning or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to improve performance. The app also provides access to a variety of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a powerful suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean an area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, however it is more likely to be stuck on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums that we have test. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
