Bedside Cot ReviewsA
bedside crib and travel cot crib (also known as a bassinet) sits next to your bed, so you can be able to provide care to your baby during night feeds and nappy changes without getting out of bed. These cribs are great for helping to build independence for your child as they grow more comfortable in their own bed.
The Joie Roomie Glide
The Joie Roomie Glide is a
bedside crib vs cot crib that allows parents to sleep together with their baby while making sure they're safe. Its smooth gliding motion is able to ease your baby back to sleep. Its innovative features ensure that you can monitor your baby without leaving your own bed.
The side panel that slides out of the crib can be raised and lowered by a simple press of a button. This makes it simple to reach inside and soothe a crying baby at night. It has 11 height adjustments that can be adjusted to fit almost any mattress size. It also has adjustable folding feet that ensure it's at the correct level.
In terms of safety, the cot is padded and comes with mesh sides to provide more airflow, and the mattress is made from high-density foam for extra protection. It's also wipeable to keep it clean, and it is fitted with a sheet that's suitable for the cot.
The Roomie Glide, unlike some other cribs for bed, is compatible with all beds including divans. This is thanks to the straps and clips that connect it. It can also be used as a stand-alone crib if it is not attached to the bed. It's packed with features that are specifically designed with the bonding between parents and babies in mind.
One thing to bear in mind is that although this crib is great for infants, it will not last long after your little one turns six months old, so you'll need to invest in a bigger cot. Overall, Roanna thought that the Joie Roomie Glide crib was an excellent purchase. She loved its sleek design.
John Lewis sells the Roomie Glide for PS160. Roanna thought this was a fair price for such a cot. She was pleased with the way it looked in her bedroom, and thought its gray color would be appropriate for most modern homes. She did mention that it's not a good idea to rock a baby younger because it could create an unfavourable sleep pattern for later.
The Tutti Bambini CoZee
The Tutti Bambini CoZee is an award-winning
bedside crib travel crib designed with a safe night's sleep in mind. It has a drop side rail which can be easily removed for feedings at night without having to disturb your baby or get them out of bed - it's ideal for breastfeeding mothers! It's also lightweight and easy to move around during nap time or when traveling.
We love that it's made of soft materials that have breathable mesh sides that promote airflow and comfort. It's available in oak and charcoal, with a range of melange fabrics that are compatible with all decor styles. Anna found it solid and secure when it was attached to her bed with the legs firmly snapping into place and the zips secure to ensure baby safety. It took Anna around 10 minutes to put it together and did not require any tools. There are clear instructions as well as a video, and a customer support number if you experience any issues.
Alongside the usual features you'd expect from a crib for your bed such as the ability to be connected to your existing bed using a stay-in place connection system and six height levels The CoZee also comes with an additional incline option which can be used to ease reflux or congestion in infants. It can also be washed in the machine and is a must for all the dribbles, vomit, and snot that can be found in a newborn baby!
The CoZee is an excellent choice if you want to keep your child in the first six months of learning to sleep independently. It can be used as a changing station, cot or toddler bed. With the addition of a sofa bed extension kit, it can transform into an
bedside cot 6 months plus. Although it can't magically bring your baby to sleep or feed them, it can rock the baby and take them to school.
The Chicco Next2Me Magic
This is one of Chicco’s more expensive options. However, it has numerous great features. It's designed as a side sleeper or a standalone crib and is suitable from birth to six months. It has a new mechanism for opening and closing the side panel. It's easy to operate even with one hand. It's also more adjustable than its predecessor, with 11 different height levels as well as feet that retract to fit under any bed.
Our testers loved the ease of access the side panel provides that can be moved up and down by pressing the button. This was particularly helpful in the evening when feeding time was over, since they could reach inside and pick their baby up without waking them.
It is possible to lower the side panel itself but this is not recommended because it increases the chance that your baby will fall out of the cot. But, the patented safety locking mechanism guarantees that it will only remain in place if it is connected to the bed of the parent correctly. This is an excellent feature to have in place for peace of mind, especially when you're breastfeeding and need frequent night feeds.
Telescopic legs enable the Chicco Next2Me Magic to be used with any bed, such as divan bases as well as beds with drawers. It comes with a tilting function for babies with reflux, as well as a rocking function to help ease them into sleep after a feeding. It's also incredibly large and has great ventilation due to its mesh sides.
The Next2Me Magic was easy to use and set up for our test subjects despite the lengthy instruction manual. It is a little heavier than other side-sleepers but it's easily moved from one area to another. It can also be folded into a
travel cot bedside bag which is ideal for those who want to transport it. The only thing our test subjects found was that the side panel didn't flex as much compared to other models. This made it a little harder to see the baby from your bed.
The Shnuggle Air
If you're looking for a crib for your bed that will expand with your child then the Shnuggle Air is definitely worth looking into. Designed to be a co-sleeping bassinet that can be attached securely to your bed and convert into a stylish cot once your baby is ready. It's perfect for night-time feeds and growing your bond with your infant.
The Shnuggle Air crib is designed to breathe, which is different from other models. The dual-view mesh side panels and hypoallergenic, breathable airflow mattress increase airflow and keep your baby comfortable and cool. A gentle incline helps to reduce colic and reflux while the zip down side allows you to feed or comfort your baby at night.
The kit for conversion to cot is also well designed, with clear instructions. It comes with everything you need. It took us around an hour to assemble and was relatively simple. The only downside to the instructions was that some images did not have captions. This made it difficult for us to follow. However, it was an easy process and the quality of the materials used was excellent.
The Shnuggle Air is a great choice for mothers who are breastfeeding or have had a c-section. It lets them reach out and touch their baby for comfort and feeding without having to leave their bed. It's great for parents who do not want to go through the burden of putting their infant in a traditional cot or getting out of it.
The gliding motion was found to be extremely helpful in lulling babies to sleep following meals at midday or night. The drop-down side can also be accessible to feed or soothe babies during the middle of the night, which was a real draw for our exhausted test moms. The Joie Roomie Glide is a sleek and functional crib that doesn't rock, or have extra features such as the sound machine.
