The Best Robot Hoover
The
best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention. It will leave your floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line features (such as a dirt detectors) are a plus.
Be sure to regularly check your robot's brushes for hair tangled and large particles, and wash them when needed. Certain models also automatically empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in a larger bin at the base. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust that gets released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have tested. They feature motors that are top-of-the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. As with other top iRobot models (including the top choice) they utilize smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans that avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also feature the feature of Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept at cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to get stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.
It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or going to school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming that is available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with a wet one in seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has self-emptying dustbins with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the
best rated robot vacuum robot hoover for carpets, although it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors that help it stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and ensure more efficient cleaning. The app lets you modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.
It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when in a carpeted area to prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm is perfect to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete the entire house with the battery at 66 percent left. It also did a good job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms with various flooring types, such as certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.
It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
This robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the bulky units of the competitors. It's one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It comes with advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's
robot mop that can wash mop pads autonomously).
It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-
cleaning robot mop and vacuum mop mops.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with an easy mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's loud that could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. If you're willing some more volume and some extra cost this is a powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that will let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device, similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and refills the water tank, and washes and dry mop pads.
The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and spot obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its top competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.
The vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home depending on the degree of dirt they tend to be.
If you own a larger home, it is worth selecting a robot that comes with the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your house needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice command. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. Additionally the recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum continue where it left off is great for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more sophisticated than the price suggests. It vacuums well, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using one pad and a reciprocating movement that cleans better that most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to set up an
automatic hoover spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for better performance. The app comes with a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans an area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it is more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums we have test. It also has an app that is less intuitive and has a tiny base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
