Private ADHD Titration

There is currently a nationwide shortage of medications to treat ADHD symptoms. This is due to manufacturing problems and a growing global demand.

Our service is private ADHD adjustment instead of waiting for NHS funding through Right to Choose. Our assessment fees include the cost of one prescription.

Titration

A comprehensive assessment of your ADHD symptoms will be conducted with a highly experienced consultant psychiatrist. This includes medical history and an assessment using the standard ADHD rating scales and questionnaires.

After your examination, you will be informed that medication may be beneficial in your particular situation. This will be discussed during your follow-up appointment (which may be scheduled in person, by video link or over the phone). Your physician will go over the various options for medications available. If you decide to begin medication, we will offer you the option of titrating your dose to maximize the benefits/side effects balance for you.

This process may take several weeks. It requires adjusting your child's dosage gradually until the appropriate balance is reached. It is not uncommon to to adjust up to three different medications until you discover the one that best fits your child's ADHD. It is important that parents participate in the titration adhd meds and be on the lookout for their child's behavior, so they can let the doctors know if the medication is helping or causing adverse effects.

Unless you have decided to return to NHS treatment the medication you take will be issued with a private prescription which you'll need to pay for at the pharmacy (this is not included in your consultation fees). You'll be required to attend six monthly appointments to monitor your medication, which includes blood pressure and pulse readings. Annual reviews are also required.

Follow-up appointments

Once the assessment has been completed, you'll be able to book follow-up appointments with the psychiatrist as appropriate. The appointment is usually done by video conference using zoom. In some instances, it could be possible for an audio-only consultation to be scheduled (again at an additional cost).

At this point, we will discuss any treatment options we have and come up with a unique ADHD medication titration plan. This will include a review of your medication dosage as well as an examination of any side effects you might be experiencing. The cost of these titration appointments is PS150 for face to face sessions and PS60 for online or telephone video consultations. The pharmacy will charge you for any charges for medication.

The psychiatrist will also ask you about your family history and the impact that your ADHD symptoms can have on your life, as well as any issues with relationships you may be having or other mental health problems that you may be experiencing. We recommend that if you are unsure about your preferences, talk to your GP prior to booking your private appointment. Some providers have different guidelines regarding whether they require a GP letter. We also advise to check if your GP accepts a "Shared-Care Agreement that means that once you are discharged from the clinic, you will be returned to them for the medication prescription.

Medication
