WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by +3. A random additional substat is also added to each upgrade.
Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect model.
Recycle Points
The
item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapons. However, the item used for the upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.
The upgrader is located in all major cities and can be visited at any time to upgrade your gear. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.
The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current level of the item being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are useful items that can be used to upgrade weapons, tools, armor, and other accessories. They can be purchased from
item upgrader kit upgraders NPCs in a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any weapon, tool or armor. button, which displays an image of the item when it is upgraded if the player has sufficient materials.
The cost of upgrading varies based on the item slot, and the current level of the item. For example weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Certain upgrades provide a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.
Upgraders for items can be found in a variety of locations including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an
upgrade item coupon and the chance to obtain a new recipe. The upgrade discount increases according to the number of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are available only via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit as well as a disadvantage.
In Season 3, many new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once a player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This is true even if the items come from an entirely different set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones needed to upgrade is reduced and the discount is available across all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievements.
Crests
Players have several choices when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more special, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.
First, you must be aware that crests are only available for gear with a certain rank. Each rank has a different upgrade path. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, based on the type or equipment being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through finishing content at the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of all difficulties for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons to obtain endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an
item level Upgrade upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and routes.
The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, however it brings some modifications to the upgrade process. Once a piece of gear reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade their gear to the highest possible level for all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.
It's also essential to use crests wisely, as they are only used for one purpose. For instance, it's a good idea use all of your Whelpling-rank crests with the best equipment available and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you plan to make. This is particularly true for items like rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, that will be able to avail the account-wide discount when all of the slots are filled with top-quality equipment.
