Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

The stats of an item are improved through upgrading it, which is also known as "upping". Each upgrade increment provides a linear increase in the stats of a particular.

Glyphs

Glyphs are a way to convey information via visuals. They move to draw the attention of the viewer and stimulate curiosity. The animation of glyphs resembles the body language and makes them more effective in transmitting a linguistic barrier-crossing message. Glyphs can also trigger a feeling of familiarity in the brain, increasing retention of the message.

Each glyph can increase a stat's value by a specific amount. This is displayed on the item, when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This is not the actual amount at the glyph can increase a stat, but the maximum value by which it can do so. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the tier and quality of the item you're creating it for.

The majority of upgrade components that are inserted into items can't be removed or replaced without dismantling them, with the exception of legendary upgrades and equipment. However, if you have a rune or glyph that hasn't yet been incorporated into your equipment, you can transfer it to a different piece of gear by using the Upgrade Glyphs context menu on the Glyphs panel. This will create an entirely new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.

If you want to remove a glyph from a piece of then you'll need to save it using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. The item where the glyph is located will be destroyed, but the upgraded item can be salvaged using the glyph shards.

Reroll tokens give players a new random affix that is usually better than the original one. Reroll tokens can also be used to upgrade weapon stats to cause more damage or bonuses.

Rerolled items are not listed on the menu for upgrade options, however they can be upgraded. These rerolled items can be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button, which changes the appearance of the window and allows up to six items to be chosen to recycle.
