World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade item (
Learn Alot more Here), it may increase an item's Rarity or Mark Level, and also boost other stats.
Each item has a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a set amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's stats base increases when it is upgraded. This value is the sum of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive depending on the person you hire and what you decide to do. This is due to the fact that many perks have to be replaced to allow the item to get upgraded.
It can also be used as a gating requirement while queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It is also used as a gating requirement while waiting to queue for dungeons and raids and scenarios, and to limit the amount of PvP gear a player can wear (since PvP is limited to an lower level). Players can view their average level of item on their character sheet.
Using the item level can help players compare the potency of gear when they decide to buy or sell. It's a measure of the damage and its quality. Comparing items in the inventory of a seller can be done by using the item's level.
On your PC, you can see the level of the item by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the full description of the item, as well as its value. It can also be found by hovering an item with the mouse cursor and typing /itemlevel into chat.
There are various theories about how the item level calculation is made. One theory states that the item level is calculated by a formula that calculates the value of the stats of an item really are. It takes into consideration the fact that various perks have different value and gems in sockets increase the value of the item overall. This can result in a calculated amount for the item's level, which is usually close to the actual Blizzard item level.
However, this is not the only factor that affects an item's ilvl, because the size of the area the item is dropped into can change the value of its stats, for instance by adding an additional level to its haste rating or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have higher ilvl than those from lower-level instances.
Item Stats
Stats on an item are a significant component of what determines the value of an item for players. The game utilizes them in various ways to encourage players not to restrict themselves to a particular weapon and to encourage players to explore other weapons. The stat mods on an weapon increase the base stats. These stat mods are then increased by a player's level.
Upgrades to an item can boost its stats. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. A white or grey item for instance, can only be upgraded one time, while an
item upgrade that has rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times with more expensive costs.
Another way to change the stats on an
item level upgrade is by affixing it. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and come in a variety of shapes and sizes. The affixes can be used to give items extra damage or other special abilities (such as the ability to revive dead or reduce cooling downs) or to make them unique by adding a name.
Presently, all affixes are able to be modified by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button with circles arrows. This will cost a specific amount of gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges, similar to other rerolling methods.
Players can upgrade an item to specific stats, or reroll attaches. The possible ranges of stats for an item are based on the level of the item, however every item is guaranteed to have at minimum one stat within the specified range, unless it's an item that is unique or a God roll from a boss of a raid.
This is another aspect that could be changed by adding the option to upgrade the equipment without rolling the affixes, or selecting which stats to enhance. But, like base equipment, this would need to be carried out on a per-item basis and the interface for item comparison will not show all the stats that could be that were gained or lost at the same time.
Item Luck
The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the odds of item discoveries and the properties that are spawned from loot drops and the intensity of these properties. It does not, however directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It simply gives the player a possibility to obtain better gear in earlier waves and is thus more valuable in the early game than in later ones, since most players prefer greater weapon scaling and defense over the raw damage gain.
In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chance of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance that increases with each level of the item and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.
The shields, armor and weapons have an initial Luck value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the
item level upgrade's material type) to grant an additional +40 Luck or to increase the luck of an item up to 140.
Certain items, like the weapon with Hollow-infused components can also be crafted to increase the damage dealt by any skill that deals damage by five percent. These items are available in the shop or crafted with the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Not all upgrades are successful. However, there are cash shop items which allow players to increase their chance of success or stop themselves from losing an item if the upgrade fails.
When you upgrade an item the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of successfully upgrading that item, and it can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations to how much the success rates can be improved, and the overall chance of an upgrade failing can't be greater than 100%..
The success of an upgrades is also influenced by the luck of the item. All items have an average success rate of 25 percent and each item that has Luck increases this chance by 5%.
It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the inventory items therefore enchantment glints and other effects could be obscured by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
