WoW Upgrades - The
Item UpgraderUpgrades will give you a boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. A random extra substat is also added to every upgrade.
Upgraded gear generally sees more value in trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variation (like Eth titan weapons). Upgrades are less important for the latter because of the requirement to roll an exact version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The
item upgrader mod used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enhancements.
The upgrader is located in all major cities and can be visited anytime to upgrade your gear. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.
The cost of upgrading will depend on the current level of the equipment being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for various currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be applied to any weapon or tool with a button, which will display an item's preview when it is upgraded if the player has sufficient materials.
The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item and the current level of the item and the weapon's price is higher than bracers or gloves, for instance. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades offer discounts on Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.
Many locations have upgraders for their items in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and the possibility of getting a new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases depending on the amount of items being upgraded, and can be increased by having players complete specific achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an
item upgrading upgrader at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are only accessible via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit as well as a drawback.
In Season 3, the upgrade system has been tweaked a bit, with several new features added. Once the player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same
item upgrade level upgrade (

The discount is applicable to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is reduced also, but is only available after certain milestones are achieved.
Crests
When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW players have a couple of options. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
The first thing to note is that crests can only be used on equipment that is of a particular rank, and each rank has its own requirements for upgrading. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade can require up to 20 crests, based on the type or gear that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by finishing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be by doing outdoor activities, or by doing dungeons or raids in any difficulty to earn equipment of lower tier or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. Crests can be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.
Using these new currencies isn't too difficult, but the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece of equipment attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it will no longer require Flightstones. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible on all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.
It's also important to use crests in a wise manner, as they have only one purpose. It's best to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear you can locate, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is especially relevant for items like rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The discount on the account is only applicable when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
