World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric stats on weapons, armor and rings. They also increase bonuses, such as damage from PvE and crit chance.

For instance, a weapon with the upgrade template that ends in % will take on 3% attack damage every time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item increases as it reaches the item's current level. The cost increases as the item's level increases.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be put into weapons, armor, and trinkets to give an extra stat boost or impact while they're being used. They can be obtained through making crafts, buying from vendors or trading with other players, or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components are only available to devices that have slots. The item upgrader must be at least upgraded to a blue level before the component can be used. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied once. They are not able to be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and Enrichments are kind of upgrade component used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or Ascended equipment, as well other items that are not ascended. Enrichments and Infusions can be obtained by salvaging equipment that is ascended or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

When a player upgrades an item it is replaced with a new item of the same kind. This means that the same armor piece will get an weapon or shield once upgraded. The new item will come with a bonus of its own. This could be a drawback, as it can make the item more expensive if you don't require it.

Upgrades to items can be rerolled, provided that the player has enough tokens to do this. The item will be replaced by an entirely new item that has a level 1 basis and totally different bonuses. This is a good idea however it should not be repeated often since it can waste resources.

Certain upgrades can be rerolled multiple times to increase their value, allowing the player to customize their gear. Failures will cause the item to return to its original condition which means that the player has to purchase more items than if they stopped upgrading after the maximum number.

If an item does not upgrade the amount of experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it has gained like the chance to crit, attack damage, or additional effects (such as a higher healing rate over time, or reloading speed). However, the user can still continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.

Whenever an item upgrader is upgraded the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that when a weapon is upgraded, if it increases its crit chance that it will be applied before any damage from attacks increases. Slots is a new attribute that has been added to item definitions. The value is calculated every time an upgrade occurs.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating and number of upgrade slots. The cost for upgrading non-premium products is equal to the base value of the upgrade--for example, a common equipment item might have 5 upgrades with a cost of 25600 Technology Points, 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items are less expensive per upgrade.

Premium items may have different upgrade requirements from normal equipment. For example they may require fewer sowels, but more minerals and orons. Whatever the case, players will have to visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. Each equipment upgrade requires different amounts of the ingredients for upgrading, in addition to the expenses that are listed above.
