WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give you an increase in specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of the item by +3. Each upgrade also increases a random substat.
The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like Eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to
upgrade item their gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapons. However, the item used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in all major cities and can be visited anytime to upgrade your equipment. To keep your gear current it is recommended you visit the upgrader every several weeks.
The cost of upgrades will depend on the current level of the equipment being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear from other sources. For instance, upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from another player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are functional items which can be used to improve the quality of weapons, tools, armor, and accessories. Players can purchase them from item upgraders NPCs in a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be applied to any weapon or tool using an button, which will display an item's preview at its next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.
Upgrade costs vary depending on the
item upgrader kit slot, and the current level of the
item upgrades. For instance, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currency types.
Upgraders for items are available in many places, including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and the possibility of obtaining an entirely new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases according to the number of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by requiring players to complete specific achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an
item upgrader at beginning unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead, the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades must be acquired through several methods that are both an improvement and a drawback.
In Season 3, the upgrade system has been tweaked a bit, with some new features added. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a particular item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading other items to that level will be less expensive, even when they belong to an entirely different set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is available across all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain achievement milestones.
Crests
Players have several options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more special and are utilized during specific item level upgrade (
My Home Page) level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests can only be used on equipment of a particular rank, and each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and simplest upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the more complex one may require as many as 20 crests depending on the type of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through completing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in all difficulty levels to obtain lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons that have a high difficulty to obtain endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader for the item, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and pathways.
The use of these currencies isn't that difficult however, the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, when an item is at the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their gear up to the highest level possible for all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.
Another notable change is that crests have one usage and it's crucial to use them wisely. It's
Best item upgrade to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment you can locate, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is particularly true for items like trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character, which can only be eligible to benefit from the account-wide discount when all slots are full of high-quality gear.
