Path of Exile Item Upgrades

The performance of a variety of Path of Exile items can be improved by upgrading them. They can be a good source of damage and more AD or even more attaches.

Sometimes, however, upgraded Common and Magic gear is often surpassed by Rare-grade equipment due to their requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades are a kind of upgrade that can be used on armor and weapon items. They boost the effectiveness of the item they are attached to. Upgrades to armor can be found in the world of the game and purchased from Blacksmiths on bonfires. Alternatively, they can also be salvaged from items with upgrade items components in them using an expert or greater salvage kit.

The amount of damage that an armored item or weapon is able to absorb is dependent on the degree of upgrades. The damage absorption of a piece armor will increase as it is upgraded to the maximum upgrade level. However, it's important be aware that this upgrade will raise its weight, requiring it to weigh more than it was before.

There are a few different types of armor upgrades that are available in the game and they all have different effects. Certain upgrades give armor an extra number of health points, while others make it stronger and lighter. The name of the armor upgrade will indicate the type of upgrade an item can receive, as shown below.

Certain upgrades require magic or a hybrid technology and magic, which are identified by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table. Additionally, some upgrades require a fee to use, which is indicated by a "Charges" entry in the table below. These charges are continuously updated or never expire based on the upgrade.

The cheapest method to upgrade armor is with Iron Ore, which can be found through exploring the surroundings and looting minor loot chests. Titanium is more expensive, however, it is available in the smelters of Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high-level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide a significant improvement in performance and are worth the cost, especially for single-handed weapons.

The player must be aware, however, that upgrading a piece to the max upgrade level will increase its defense value. However, it will also affect its agility and speed. This is why it is generally not recommended to upgrade most armor pieces above +9, because the increase in defense is generally not worth the additional weight and power costs of the improvements required.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades allow players to improve the effectiveness of certain aspects of an weapon. Upgrades can improve the accuracy of a rifle or the damage that shotgun shells do. Some weapons have special upgrades to improve their inherent capabilities. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and minimizes the risk of overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases the speed of projectiles to cause more damage).

The majority of upgrades to weapons require one of three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons, and a whetblade for applying. These can be obtained by doing side quests, or taking out a certain number of bosses or monsters, or by contacting the Weapon Upgrade NPC in Central Flarine.

Upgrades to a weapon, equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade cost of a certain number of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the higher the number of bars required to complete it. The cost of the upgrades will be less if you have more than one of the upgrade materials.

In Chapter 2: Season 5, the method of upgrading your equipment and weapon sets has changed a bit. Prior to Chapter 2 Season 5 you could upgrade your weapon or equipment by paying a specific amount of Bars. You could continue doing this until you reached the maximum upgrade level for the equipment or weapon, following which the upgrades would be reset.

It's still possible, but it depends heavily on RNG. You should consider buying equipment that has minimal upgrade levels but with high base scores and stat distributions. These items have a greater chance of giving you the most prestigious tier of advantages and benefits.

To increase their level faster, many players be more inclined to upgrade their weapons. Players should also upgrade the weapons their teammates use to make them stronger. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R, which will make it more useful when paired with biotech specialists such as Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels are used in the sockets of armor and weapons, enhancing the stats of a weapon and providing additional effects. They can be created using an process known as jewelry crafting, where you combine a gem and various chemicals at a table. The higher the level of the gemstone is, the greater its secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses around the world, or through salvaging Legendary Gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Prisms.

The Jeweler can improve the quality of gemstones in stages ranging from Crude up to Royal. Depending on the tier of the gem it can provide different stat boosts when inserted into weapons, gear and jewelry.

All kinds of jewels can be made at the Jeweler, with the exception of the rare and legendary jewels which require you to be at a high enough level to qualify for these. Jewels can be substituted with another one without damaging the original. You can only replace the jewel once within an item of equipment.

The use of more jewels in a move will make it feel smoother and is usually used for aesthetic reasons. Apart from improving performance, the diamonds create a surface that is harder than steel, so the repeated friction with pivots doesn't damage them as easily.

A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs to enhance the look of your weapons and shields. These provide a small bonus and can be swapped out at any time but aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs are upgradeable, as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold and Scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be taken out and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as traits or aegis cannot be swapped, and can only be found by using an Upgrade extractor or salvaging with Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage.

Trinkets

Trinkets are items of equipment that provide a wide range of tiny but valuable advantages to your hero. They are available in the starter area as loot or as personal story rewards. They are also available from vendors as well as through doing road interaction. They may also be crafted by jewelers, and found or purchased on the Trading Post.

The first trinket that a player can unlock is the cloak. It grants a small, but useful bonus in movement speed and evasion. The player can then collect necklaces, amulets, and rings, in a similar way similar to how they obtained weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment comes with one upgrade slot that accepts either a universal upgrade or a jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be utilized on any piece of equipment. Jewels cannot be upgraded or replaced, and can only be used with certain trinkets.

These trinkets provide additional buffs and abilities that are active when the hero isn't fighting. This allows a hero to be more efficient when they are not active. It can also compensate for the absence of strong team or talent tree slots which would normally be filled by a hero's top stats.

A good general rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best item upgrader-in-Slot) items that you won't be replacing soon, followed by items with desirable stats but less important than the iLevel of the item to be upgraded. This is especially true when you're looking to upgrade several stats on an item upgrader mod. It is better to upgrade one important stat than two less important ones.

Jungle players often upgrade item their yellow trinkets to a red one prior to the start of the game. Mid and top players, on the other hand, will choose a pink or green ward, based on the matchup. These choices will have a significant impact on the hero's abilities to control maps.

In addition to the items listed above, players can also discover other trinkets in form trophies and rewards throughout the game. They can be earned through completing certain milestones in the story, like finishing a chapter's main quest or killing a particular boss. These can be viewed by selecting the relevant achievement in the reward tab of the hero menu.
