The items can be upgraded at any NPC that is an upgrader in the game. These NPCs are located in the major questing areas or capital cities. Players can also locate item upgraders in dungeons that have high-level bosses, and by talking to the NPCs in their garrisons for their faction.

The World of Warcraft item upgrade system allows players to upgrade the level of their weapons, armor, and trinkets. This process is largely identical to the process of reforging gear in Mists of Pandaria and Warlords of Draenor however, instead of using the appropriate currency players need to visit an NPC for upgrading items to complete the process.
