The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They feature motors that are top-of-the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. As with other top iRobot models (including the top-rated model) they utilize smart mapping technology to design precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots that vacuum and mop also come with Carpet Boost, a feature that boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors, and they are particularly adept in removing hair from dogs. However, they have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a great option, especially if you want to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used when you're at work or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. And, if you have to change the mopping pad for a dry one in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish automatic vacuum and mop robot cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot cleaner with mop hoover for carpets, however it falls behind some competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

This high-performing mop and automatic vacuum and mop combo utilizes advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it will learn your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. The app lets you modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average in comparison to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a carpeted area which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm is great to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums this feature, which we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

This robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba unit than the boxy models of the competitors. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It features advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's also the only robotic hoovers vacuum or mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a combination high-tech sensors including a structured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with a simple mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive, though it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are similarly capable and better-looking. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable however, it will cost you more and create more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of an array of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and spot obstacles, navigating more intelligently than some of its premium rivals. It also has a camera mounted on the front to detect hazards in real-time, although this wasn't quite 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to the degree of dirt they tend to be.

If you have a bigger home, it is worth selecting a robot that comes with zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your home must be cleaned by using the app or voice command. A stairway mode is useful if you own a number of furniture. For busy families, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off could be very useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you might imagine from its price. It is a great job vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion that is cleaner than the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured application and a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to set up the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app comes with a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean an area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like adorable eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it is more likely to be caught in low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums we have examined. It also has an app that's not as intuitive and has a tiny base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
