WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you boosts in certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also boosts an unspecified substat.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the need to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the Best item upgrader will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities, and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every few weeks, to ensure that your equipment is up to date.

The cost of upgrading will depend on the current item level of the gear being upgraded, but will always be less expensive than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be used on any weapon or tool with the help of button, which displays an image of the item when it is upgraded in the event that the player has enough materials.

The upgrade items cost depends on the item slot and current item level, with weapons costing more than bracers or gloves, for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain degree, it can be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currency types.

Upgraders for items are available in a variety of locations including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon and a chance to obtain an entirely new recipe. The discount for upgrading increases as more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players finish certain achievements or quests.

Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no item upgrader available in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only accessible through a variety of methods. This is both a positive and a disadvantage.

In Season 3, several new features were added to the upgrade system. After the player has upgraded to a certain Item Level upgrade level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This is regardless of whether the items come from another set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is reduced also, but is only available once certain milestones are reached.

Crests

Players have a variety of options when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item upgrade level upgrades. Crests are an important component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests are only able to be spent on gear of a specific rank, and that every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The most basic and straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complicated can require as much as 20 crests depending on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through working through content that is of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with all difficulty for items of higher tier, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons to obtain endgame gear. The crests can later be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, but it does bring some modifications to the upgrade process. Once a piece of gear attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade their gear to the highest possible level on all of their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another important change is that crests only have one use, so it's important to use them properly. It is Best item upgrader to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment that you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is especially true for items such as rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
