WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boosts in specific statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of the item by +3. Each upgrade also boosts an unspecified substat.
The more modernized gear generally has a more value in trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variation (like the eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapons. However, the item used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in every major city, and can be visited anytime to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks.
The cost of upgrading will depend on the current item level of the item being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item level upgrade (

Valorstones
Upgrades are functional items that are used to upgrade weapons tools, armor, and accessories. They can be purchased by players from NPCs of
item upgrading upgraders for various currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an
upgrade item is purchased, it can be used on any weapon or tool with an button, which will show a preview of the item at its next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.
The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and current item level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers, for example. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.
Upgraders for items are available in a variety of locations on the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer an
upgrade item coupon and a possibility of getting the latest recipe. The discount for upgrades increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.
Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are available only through a variety means. This is both a benefit and a drawback.
In Season 3, the upgrade system has been tweaked a bit, with several new features added. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a certain level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading further items to the same level will be less expensive, even in the event that they belong to a different gear set.
The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players achieve certain achievement milestones.
Crests
Players have a variety of options when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more special, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.
First, you must be aware that crests are only available for equipment that is of a certain rank. Each rank has distinct upgrade paths. The simplest and simplest upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complex may require as many as 20 crests, based on the kind of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through finishing content at the appropriate level. This could be by doing outdoor activities or completing dungeons and raids in any difficulty to earn lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with heroic difficulty to obtain endgame gear. Crests can be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.
The new currency system isn't complicated to use, however it brings some changes to the upgrade process. For instance, when a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
Another notable change is that crests only have one usage therefore it's essential to use them properly. For instance, it's a good idea to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests with the best equipment available and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning on making. This is particularly true for items like trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character which will only be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount when all slots are filled with top-quality equipment.
