Inline Lever/Lever

Lever Pad

A Lever Pad upvc door handle operates differently from lever-type handles that are found on the majority of doors. These handles are operated by one spindle, or two spindles, either inline or offset. They are usually used on UPVC doors with double glazing handle glazing. They come in a range of finishes & variations.

The handles have been tested to the minimum of 200 000 cycles and are available in a variety of finishes, including White Silver, Chrome, & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to rust. This gives the handle an outstanding performance and long-lasting durability for the purpose it was designed for.

All UPVC lever pads for handles include a spindle and screws and can be installed on a uPVC door. The backplate fixation centers of 211mm permit a larger handle, which is typically an advantage when replacing an old or faulty multi-point door lock mechanism. These handle levers are also sprung, solving the problem of handles that slide out of the horizontal position when they are not in use.

It is important to match the PZ dimensions for both the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC doors when choosing a replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement is also referred to as 'handle centres or cylinder centre'. It is important to match the correct handles.

It is essential to ensure that there is no cylindrical lock that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This could make it vulnerable to lock snapping attacks.

The design of most newer cylinders includes anti-drilling and bump resistance features. They are designed to decrease the chances of an attack by forcing the cylinder rotate in the opposite direction. This can help to deflect attacks and keep your door safe.

There are also cylinders that are constructed to withstand snapping. This is an increasingly common kind of attack on cylinders where the break line inside the lock is smashed by a tool that is specially designed to snap off the front of the cylinder and allow the door to be opened. This is a quicker and simpler method to gain access than using a multipoint locking system. It also leaves no evidence of the break-in which could make it difficult to prove insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is situated in the base plate of your door handle. It provides a sprung solution to return the multipoint lock handles and hinges to their original position after usage. The handles had no spring and would drop when the locking mechanism was disengaged. This simple feature is one of the most effective ways to fix this and it is also a great way to prevent your upvc doors from getting stuck in the open or closed position, since they aren't always easy to manually close by hand.

These spring cassettes were designed to be used with a spring multipoint lock. They won't work with handles that are not sprung, and you will have to cut a hole into your backplate in order for them to fit. (Please see the image for a technical diagram).
