double glazing window handles glazed windows. As time passes, they may become rusty or worn down.

Handle
Over time, uPVC window handles and locks may be damaged by wear and tear, or accidental or intentional damage. It can be that the handle or lock becomes difficult to close or open, or that they are not locked at all. If this occurs, it might be tempting to replace the entire window unit, however this isn't always the case. In many instances an upgrade to the handle or lock is all that's needed.
The most common type of uPVC window handle is the espagnolette. This has a spindle which is affixed to the handle and slot into a gearbox which operates the multipoint locking mechanism in the window. We have a range of replacement handles and locks for all types of uPVC window to ensure that they function in a coordinated manner.
It is a good idea, when replacing the handle of a uPVC handle, to use screw covers to protect the screws from rust and ensure they remain secure. Alternatively, it's possible to make use of a spacer or washer to create a more secure seal. A screw cap will prevent debris and water from getting into the handle, causing damage.
After removing the handle from the window, it's a good idea for you to clean both the spindle as well as the threaded portion of the bolt. This will make sure that the new handle is fitted and functions correctly, and will also help to stop dirt from entering the multipoint lock.
The next step is to install the new uPVC handle. It is essential to follow the directions provided with the new handle and also to look at your previous one prior to beginning to get an idea of how to do it correctly. It's also important to note that if you're replacing the uPVC handle cockspur (also called an Espag handle) you'll need to check the step height of the window to determine the appropriate size of handle. The steps height refers to the distance from the base or frame of the window to the point at which the cockspur's nose handle sits when installed.

These hinges are designed to open fully in an urgent situation and come with an easy-cleaning feature. We also stock restricted egress hinges that are designed to restrict the opening angle of the window to 100mm or less, ideal for family homes with children.
A squeaky hinge could be an indication that hinges are wearing out, and this is usually due to the rubbing of metal against metal. A small drop of lubricant may help but should the noise continue to be heard, it is likely that the hinges will require replacement.
window handles for upvc plumbs help avoid unnecessary binding, which means that the operating sash of the window is in line with the frame, ensuring that it closes and opens correctly. When buying replacement upvc window hinges, be aware that they can be bought in either imperial or sizes in metric. The sizes in metric are slightly more precise, however this isn't really noticeable when they are installed. The first corner fixing holes on the track and arm are a standard size, however the other holes can vary in length depending on the hardware that was originally used. We suggest that you take measurements of the hole spacings on your frame prior to purchasing any hinges made of upvc to ensure that they are of the correct dimensions.
Crank
The normal wear and tear that happens over time can cause damage to the window handle, lock or crank mechanism. This can make it difficult to open and close your windows. It can also impact their security. If you notice that your window is hard to open or close, or if you hear a click sound when turning the handle, it may be a sign that you need to replace the crank mechanism. If you are unable to lock your window or the multipoint locks are broken, it could be worth replacing this part too.

You can tell if the replacement has the exact same step height as the previous one by measuring the distance from the guide for the crank arm bushing to the notch on the track at the bottom of the frame. Alternately, you can measure the length of the spindle on your current handle to find out what size you will need for a replacement.
