1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the top model) they utilize smart mapping to create detailed floorplans and avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also have a feature called Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. However, they have a few flaws that keep them from being our top pick. For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology, so it's prone to get caught up in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a great deal particularly if your office or home has a lot of bare floors and you want to save money. It's also quiet and can be used while you are at work or in school. The only thing it doesn't have that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't stay on well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle however. If you're required to, the mopping pad can be swapped for a wet one in minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as nimble navigation make it easy to clean and effective in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also comes with a powerful suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best robot vacuum best vacuum for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

It also learns the patterns of your home over time to provide better cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and customize zones with the well-designed app. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to take off and extend its mops. This helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete the entire house with 66 percent of its battery left. It did a great cleaning job on various flooring and rooms with different flooring types including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was superb, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically empties into its base, and it supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy models from the competition. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuum cleaners uk vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot vacuum that mops that is able to wash mop pads autonomously).

It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a combination high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, offering a simple mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's a noisy unit which could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you attempt to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, although it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally powerful and look better. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however, it will cost you more and make more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. Like Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot employs a combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles, making it more efficient than some of its premium rivals. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, although this wasn't quite 100% foolproof during our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its auto vacuum and mop has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also has an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the house based on how dirty these areas are.

If you have a bigger home, you should consider selecting a model with a zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you tell the robot which area of your home must be cleaned using the app or voice control. If you have lots of furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. Also a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum continue where it left off is great for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you might imagine from its price. It's a pro at vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad and a reciprocating movement which is cleaner than the majority mop cleaners for robots that we've tested. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through a mapping run which collects information about your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to set up an automatic spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. The app also grants access to a host of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It does a great job vacuuming, however it is more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we have tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
