World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading

The item upgrade lets players increase the gear rating of an item by up 700 points and also add a final bonus. Items can be upgraded by having them in inventory and heading to the kiln.

Certain items are worth upgrading because of their unique stats. (For example an excellently broken point armor that is rolled can be used in melee PvP). Other items like weapons don't change much after an upgrade, and aren't worth it.

Weapons

The number of stones needed to upgrade the gun will increase until it needs a higher level of Smithing Stones. At that point it will reset to one.

Upgrades to weapons will also reroll the stats of their base. This is usually a positive aspect, but it may also have negative effects. In the case of items that are only used in a specific build (Whistant's shield for FB sorcs, for instance) upgrading them could make them unusable unless you happen to have an extremely fortunate roll.

The ability to upgrade armor items to boost their effectiveness. This can boost the base defense of a helm or chest while belts and gloves will increase their required strength and agility. Armor has a rerolling option for its Enhanced Defense%. This means that it may reroll down to a lower value.

The upgrade template of a weapon will show the new stats it will gain after upgrading, as well as the relative value of those stats. This means that a weapon will gain 3% attack damage if it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. Therefore, it's a good idea to upgrade your armor.

To improve your armor, head to one of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four Great Fairy Fountains available in the game and in order to unlock each one you have to complete a side quest that involves the Stable Trotters. After you've completed the main quest, and the corresponding fountains, you can talk to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the menu for upgrading armor.

Each piece of armor can be upgraded up to three levels, and the amount of materials and Rupees required for each will vary. You'll require anything from three Red Chuchu jellies and 10 Rupees to upgrade your first armor piece, and anywhere between five Rubies or ten Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns to upgrade the next one. The Champion Leathers, as an example, can be upgraded to a 5 defense rating, which will allow you to keep up in cold environments with a large group of adversaries. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other hand, can be upgraded as high as +20 defense, which means you're able to withstand a rout with friends.

Once a potion has been upgraded, it will not degrade until you re-use it, or break the bottle it is stored in. You can also rename the potion by clicking it in your inventory.

There were some changes to potion mechanics in version 1.7.2. Splash potions, for instance have now a duration of 0:08 instead of the 22.5 seconds shown on the hover display for the item. The table for potion is constructed from four Wood Planks, and two Glass. This allows it to be utilized by players playing Survival and Bedrock. In contrast to the Java Edition, Bedrock edition potions cannot be mixed in cauldrons. This is the same for using a potion in a cauldron that is full. This will deplete the liquid, and then refill the bottle.

The upgrade vendors are found in major cities and the capital of each zone, as well as in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are offered with tokens, gold, or fragments from rare trinkets.

Upgrades are a cheaper alternative to buying a brand new trinket. One can upgrade a trinket with as little as 12 tokens. The new trinket comes with the same base level as the old trinket but it also comes with an additional bonus of 1% upgrade.

After they've become unusable trinkets can be upgraded to a higher level. The new trinket has an additional 1% bonus. However, a re-upgrade can destroy the old trinket in the event that it is not saved using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or a higher-tier salvage tool. This makes upgrading trinkets more expensive than other upgrades, yet is still cheaper than buying an entirely new trinket.
